I Dare To Fail so you can Dare to Win - Moon Arica
Some people are born with talent.
Most aren’t.
Can we become great writers then?
Make yourself into a great writer by
showing up
building good habits
embracing the growth process
Writing is a skill honed through repetition, persistence, and a love of words.
Make magic with a writer’s mindset.
Writers are made, not born.
Let’s dive into the habits, grit, and growth required to craft meaningful words.
⚡Writing begins with a spark
A desire to write is the first step to becoming a writer. But desire alone isn’t enough. You’d also need clarity.
Everything we do should start with a purpose. Your "why" is your compass. Without it, the process becomes aimless. Ask yourself, why do you want to write?
✅ To express yourself? Writing helps you to communicate thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
✅ To tell stories? You have a special story that is waiting to be shared.
✅ To inspire others? Writing can motivate and uplift readers.
✅ To clarify your thoughts? Writing helps organize and refine ideas.
✅ To leave a legacy? Written words can outlive their creator.
✅ To educate? To share knowledge and teach others.
✅ To heal? Writing can be therapeutic and help process emotions.
✅ To connect with others? To build relationships and communities through shared experiences.
✅ To challenge yourself? Writing is a skill that grows with effort and persistence.
✅ To influence change? Have the power to shape opinions and create movements.
✅ To capture memories? Preserving moments and experiences through written words.
✅ To build a career or business? Writing professionally as an author, journalist, or content creator.
✅ To discover yourself? Exploring personal identity through introspective writing.
✅ To entertain? Creating content that brings joy and excitement to others.
✅ To make sense of the world? Writing helps process and understand complex ideas or events.
⚡Consistency creates mastery
Writers are made in the quiet moments of showing up, regardless whether inspiration strikes or not. The habit of writing daily builds the muscle you need to turn raw ideas into refined stories.
Build your writing habit with grit, routine and discipline.
The daily grind isn’t glamorous, boring even, but it’s the difference between dreaming of being a writer and actually becoming one.
Resolve to write every day, and you will. Buy a journal, create a ritual, use AI or other tools to kickstart. Set aside time.
But start somewhere. Start posting on substack notes, X, or threads. Every little bit stacks up.
⚡Commit yourself
The first draft will never be perfect and that’s okay. Writing is a journey, not a destination. Commit to the process of learning, improving, and growing. Embrace the inevitable mistakes and use them as stepping stones.
To stay committed,
💡 Read voraciously
The best writers are avid readers. Absorb ideas, styles, and techniques from everything you read. I’m on a mission to read 1 or 2 books a month, and also incorporate more fiction into my book list.
💡 Write through chaos
Life happens. Your writing has to survive the chaotic happenings around you.
Your first draft sucks. Keep going despite that. Done is better than perfect.
You probably get 0 likes and few views at the start. It’s disheartening externally but heartening internally if you continue to push on.
Commitment is showing up, day after day, knowing the process will shape you into a better, stronger, more resilient writer.
💡 Skills stacking
Every great writer started as a beginner. The only way to get better is to keep learning. Treat writing like a craft that evolves with intentional practice.
Stack your skills and build your craft.
Experiment with styles. Write poetry, instructional pieces, short stories, or long articles to find your voice.
Learn from others. Join mastermind groups, listen to podcasts, read others’ works.
Refine your editing skills. Writing is rewriting. Polish your words until they shine.
Growth happens in layers. Every piece you write builds on the last, creating a foundation of skills and confidence.
⚡Integrate writing into who you are
You’re a writer. Identify yourself as that and it becomes more than an activity. It becomes part of your identity. You write because it’s who you are, not because it’s something you do.
Call yourself a writer, share your work as a writer. Reflect and write about your writing journey. Cement your identity as a writer when you walk the journey and improve along the way.
Let writing become part of you, go from becoming a writer to being a writer.
⚡I am a writer
Make yourself a writer through habits, grit, and growth. The journey is not easy but worth every bit of your effort. Writing transforms not only your words but also the way you see the world and yourself.

Thanks for reading.
This was inspiring to read. I've developed this system with ChatGPT to write daily where I ask for a prompt, write it then ask for feedback & rewrite.
"Life happens. Your writing has to survive the chaotic happenings around you."
I have somehow ended up writing about my life, the chaos and what it has taught me.
It's not what I originally set out to do, but it feels right, right now.
I do have traditional curiosity based posts almost ready to publish but writing is about going with your gut and I'm curious as to where that will take me next
