Moon! It didn’t tell me you mentioned me! What a happy surprise to come across my name! Before I saw that, my comment was going to be something like “A Guide to Healing in disguise”
I’ve been picking bits of languages all my life, can get by in French and German, read and converse daily in Nederlands. Old and Ancient tongues have much wisdom to offer…. Apropos - have just set up two more stacks, one of which is Undeniable Poets. When it goes live I’ll be including Geoffrey Chaucer (Middle English predating Shakespeare) and Snorri’s Icelandic Eddas.
But tell me why you picked French, Ca Marche ? Tu vouder visiteras ? Alors ! A la prochain !
I'm very interested in your Undeniable Poets. I love classics though they can be difficult to understand.
There are 3 reasons why I picked French.
1. It sounds beautiful
2. I heard it's difficult and I want to challenge myself
3. My friend here on substack told me he writes in French and I want to read his writings.
Learning a new language is a long time committment and I like to do this alongside with my writing. So my daily habit consist of learning French and write / posting on substack.
Been meaning to have a close look at the whole Tagging thing before I use it strategically. Have saved a few articles to read over the New Year. Have some other major structurals to get in place this month…. Update to the group will be sent soon…., Reards, Maurice
Love this post Arica! I love how you mentioned that writing also sharpens the mind! Sometimes I can get too wrapped up in the spiritual and emotional benefits (which are crucial) without fully tapping into the mental and logical side of it. It definitely stimulates the mind and reading other great writers like yourself inspire me to expand my horizons. Thank you so much for sharing this! 💪❤️
Now I would add that writing sharpens the mind of both writers and readers. Khadejah, thanks for highlighting the spiritual and emotional side. I have only now explored this and realized that writing gave one more than just writing words that inspire.
Thanks for always believing in me and giving me confidence. You may not know when your words just push a person a little over the "working hard to do their best" edge.

Ahhh oui - merci et a tu aussi, Maurice.
(My instinct was to respond in Spanish - my French isn’t very strong but perhaps a 2025 goal to revisit)
Alors Allison ! Avec beaucoup pleasir, toujours. or as we say in Dutch “Met grote genugen, altijd !”
Currently picking up a little Espaniol and Portuguese from new friends….
I've been taking French lessons using Duolingo, currently on my 71th day streak! Know nothing about spanish though.

The first comparison Moon, is always more fun than difficulties. the second is the longer I do it - the greater the gap.....
