In the library that I inherited, there are several Martial Arts - which never interested me...... Now they do. Thankyou Moon for this new inspirational tangent. Big hug, Maurice

I'm a born martial arts wannabe lol.... have dreamt of becoming a martial arts master from young (or at least acting like one, think of the courage, chivalry, values of a true martial arts grandmaster)... I actually have a lot of philosophy on this. maybe I should start a series 😂 Thanks Maurice!

All of those Kung Fu films were "research" then 🤣 I like the metaphor as a whole but I still think that "as a blade honed too fine will shatter. A sentence sharpened to perfection may lose its soul."

That’s a killer line Mark, so poetic and true! Perfection can strip away the raw energy that makes writing feel alive. Let the magic appear when you inject your writing with a little roughness and a little unpredictability.

Purpose and intention should be in every line. However, in my experience, thinking too hard about precision can hinder the creative process. I like to just write. Then refine in editing. Thank you for this. Love, Virg

I really loved the match of martial arts with writing. I was astonished to look at the similarities between the two.

This is part of the silly side of Substack. The posts on Substack about Substack. The really interesting stuff on Substack is stuff that ignores the rules about how to be successful. Moon, you are putting so much effort into telling people how to write. Why don't you just write? On the set of Marathon Man, Laurence Olivier said to Dustin Hoffmann, "Why don't you try acting, dear boy?"

Hi Michael, I invite you to read my Monday posts which are on mindset and not writing, would love to have your thoughts on them. https://moonaricathoughts.substack.com/s/be-inspired

I'm pretty torn actually, whether to just write mindset articles only. The reason I'm writing about writing is because I'm trying to improve my writing skills and this will spur me on, does that make sense?

Not silly at all, self improvement makes a lot of sense..... and aids others too

Help ourselves then we can help others, maybe I have unknowingly achieved both? I'm grateful for your comment Maurice... I was at crossroads recently on the direction of my Substack which I haven't fully straightened out. Needs a little more think and some experimentation perhaps before I will gain clarity.

I don't think of writing as a martial art.
