Dare to fail your way to success - Moon Arica
💦Obstacles are part and parcel
We all face obstacles in life, whether in our work, health, or relationships.
The course of life is constantly shifting, and no matter how much we try to control things, some events will always be beyond our reach.
Maybe you're preparing for an important exam, pouring hours into your studies, but right before the big day, you fall sick.
Or perhaps you opened your retail shop, invested in capital, running promotions, only for the unexpected to happen. COVID hits, and all traffic to your shop comes to a halt.
Could you have avoided any of these? Perhaps not. But you can get past these obstacles.
Previously I talked about adaptability, today it will be about persistence - one of the most underrated but powerful forces in life.
There's a Chinese idiom, “dripping water penetrates the stone,” which illustrates the power of perseverance.
Just as water doesn’t stop flowing until it breaks through even the toughest stone, persistence can wear down life’s most stubborn obstacles.
💦Obstacles aren’t permanent
They may seem impenetrable, but they can be worn down, just as water carves through rock over time.
The question is, will you keep flowing, persist through the resistance, and allow yourself to break through?
Obstacles can feel like immovable mountains, but just as water erodes rock over time, persistence allows you to break through any barrier.
It's not about forcing your way through all at once because success doesn’t work like that.
Persistence separates those who succeed from those who give up too soon.
It's about continuing to flow, chipping away at the challenges bit by bit. Will you be the one to keep flowing, to push through the resistance?
In life, the real issue isn't the size of the obstacle but a lack of persistence. We live in a fast-paced world.
💦We want instant gratification
If success doesn’t come quickly, we think:
”Maybe this isn’t for me”
“It’s just too hard”
“I want a shortcut”
We give up or switch directions too early.
This creates a dangerous mindset.
It made us quit too soon, switching directions at the first sign of struggle.
What if you adopt a different mindset? If you stop seeing obstacles as permanent roadblocks and start seeing them as temporary challenges, your entire outlook shifts.
Water doesn’t question how long it will take to wear down the rock, it just flows. Slowly, persistently, and with determination.
If we approached our challenges with the same mindset, we’d start seeing them as temporary rather than impossible.
💦Shift your mindset
To break through obstacles, you need to focus on long-term progress rather than short-term wins. Persistence means showing up every day, even when progress seems invisible.
Success rarely happens overnight; it's built on small, consistent efforts that add up over time.
The most successful people aren’t the ones who never face obstacles, they’re the ones who persist through them.
They keep moving when others quit.
That continuous effort, the unrelenting drive, is what eventually breaks through even the toughest challenges.
💦Persistence lies in consistency
You don’t have to make massive progress every day. Like dripping water, small, consistent actions lead to big, long-term results.
When you stop focusing on how far you have to go and instead focus on showing up every day, something shifts.
Obstacles stop looking like walls and start looking like pebbles that can be worn down over time.
Persistence isn’t about speed—it’s about endurance. The only true failure is to give up.
💦Strategies to build persistence
1️⃣Commit to daily action
No matter how small, commit to taking one step toward your goal every day. Even 10 minutes of effort counts. Persistence is built on consistency, show up every day and trust the process.
2️⃣Think long-term
Stop chasing quick fixes and instant results. Instead, think about the long game.
Ask yourself, "What could I achieve if I persist for a year? Five years? Ten?"
Persistence is a marathon, not a sprint.
3️⃣Embrace obstacles as growth opportunities
Every obstacle is a chance to grow. When you face resistance, see it as a test of your persistence.
Like water, learn to adapt, flow around the problem, or chip away at it little by little.
4️⃣Track your progress
Document your small wins, they add up over time. Even if your progress is slow, it will be steady.
Keeping track of even the tiniest improvements will remind you of how far you’ve come.
5️⃣Develop patience and resilience
Persistence requires patience. Some obstacles take longer to overcome than others.
Instead of getting frustrated, remind yourself that every day you persist, you’re one step closer to breaking through.
6️⃣Surround yourself with a support system
Water may flow alone, but you don’t have to.
Find people who support your persistence and growth.
A strong support system will encourage you to stay consistent, especially when the going gets tough.
Like water, your power comes not from speed or force but from persistence. The more you embrace this mindset, the easier it becomes to break through obstacles in your path.
Life will always present challenges, but persistence gives you the strength and the way to overcome them.
Keep flowing. Keep moving. Eventually, even the toughest rock will give way.
Be a forerunner, take the lead. - Moon Arica

On writing:
Thanks for reading.
Persistence is a trait of all successful people.
You rise and fall, you fall and rise.
And in between there is the ongoing journey that we are all in.
I usually persist when my inner vision is strong.
When it's not, it's tough, my moral can break and my persistence can lose its handle.
This is when I need faith and good people in my life.
Patience is definitely a virtue I am teaching myself these days.
Patience to be consistent in my goals
Patience to wait for the results to manifest
Patience to reach my dreams
Patience to persistently work.
The reasons why we have so many short cuts, scammers is because they are not patient enough to do it the hard way
