I think there is some overlap between clarity and brevity, but I think it's possible to be perfectly clear without being short and sweet.

That said I probably do need to take this advice on board. Thanks Moon

I do love good descriptive writings, which should be the foundation for good storytelling. Even for non-fiction, some ideas really require an entire book to make clear the point, like Atomic Habits and The One Thing, 2 books that hit me like a train when I first read them, can't say they are short, but they are certainly sweet and crystal clear.

My Tuesday post is currently named “Short and Sweet or Long and Rich” and is a bit of an experimental format on brevity vs depth, which I can’t seem to let go of.

A point I made is that you can distil a book down to a summary and get the gist, but it’s just not the same. As you say, you need the full book for all of the additional context. My post might be a little biased towards depth but I recognise my bias and I aim to work on that where appropriate.

I can’t just claim I prefer it to cover up lazy editing.
