I used to roll my eyes at affirmations, it felt like fluff, pure "woo-woo" nonsense. But then I reframed it. Approaching it from a scientific, logical angle made all the difference. Call it Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and suddenly it’s no longer mystical, it’s evidence-based.

For me, the process is more: write, believe, achieve. It’s not enough to just say something, though that might help.

Writing it down is where the magic happens. Expanding on it, typing it out, hitting save, or even better, publishing it,cements the intention in my brain. It’s like flipping a switch: intention locked.

Later, whether it’s tomorrow, next week, or next month, I can revisit what I’ve written, add to it if needed, and refresh my focus.

It’s like watering a plant: the habit grows stronger with consistent attention.

Excellence, agency, success, they’re all habits we can cultivate. But misery, sadness, and despair can be too. If we’re not careful, we can resign ourselves to them simply because they’re familiar, or easier.

The key is knowing we have the choice to build better habits by telling ourselves the right things. Record the intentions and water them regularly.
