Are you too shy to look at people in the eye?
Try this Simple Tweak To Your Posture to overcome this the moment you step out of the house
The Super Shy Syndrome
For 20 years I battled with shyness.
My 3 top symptoms are:
1. I can’t look at people in the eyes
2. I can’t say more than “hello” and “thank you”
3. I run away from people (though not literally)
The first day I started work in my first job, I met the HR manager at the lift.
She looked at me, and her first words were, “You’re very shy, aren’t you?”
And she walked away.
Wow what a quick and accurate diagnosis.
I imagined myself back then.
I probably had my eyes down or averted, my shoulders slumped and my body turned away.
For 20 years, I was like that.
Can you imagine how disastrous that was for anyone?
Being Shy = Lack of Confidence = Lack of competence (Not true!!!)
How could a small flaw cause so much damage?
With a small tweak in my posture, now no one thinks I’m shy.
When you step out of the house today
1. Raise your head to your eye level
2. When you pass people on the streets, glance (not stare) at them
3. Pick a facial part and look at it
People wouldn’t know you are looking at their foreheads, their noses or their chins.
Anyway most people will be too busy to care that you are looking.
They are either swiping phones, rushing to places, or thinking about something (aka daydreaming).
You can have fun doing this practice
Naughty day 1: Look at foreheads
Is the forehead wide or narrow?
What’s the shape of the forehead framed by the hair?
Are there even hair on the forehead?
Are there wrinkles?
What kind of hairstyle is there?
Naughty day 2: Look at cheeks
Hmmm, red blusher, she looks all dolled up, going for a date..?
Puffed out cheeks, this guy looks angry…
Wait, now I’m reading moods just from their cheeks…?
I now display confidence, exude competence and can speak strongly about the subject.
This was from many days of practice.
Now, the shy monster rears its ugly head once in a while.
That’s when I get to know more foreheads, more chins and noses. Hehe.
Now it’s your turn
Once you step out of your house, you can start the practice.
Come up with your own unique way to make this fun.
Take as long as you like until you have knocked the shy monster into its place.
If you find this strategy useful, comment and let me know.
Maybe someone else may find this useful, share this and let them try too.
