Most writing is forgettable but yours doesn’t have to be.
Readers decide within seconds whether to keep going or move on. If your writing doesn’t grab them, they’re gone. But when you know how to hook attention and hold it, your words become magnetic.
You don’t need to be a literary genius. You just need these 7 simple tweaks to make your writing impossible to ignore.
1. Hook them instantly
Your first sentence should hit like a punch to the gut.
No fluff. No slow buildup. If you don’t hook the reader immediately, they’ll never get to the good part. People are bombarded constantly with content. Emails. Social media. Articles. If your opening line doesn’t demand attention, it’s game over.
Start with a bold statement ("Most writing is forgettable. Yours doesn’t have to be.")
Ask a compelling question ("What if the key to better writing was deleting half of what you wrote?")
Drop the reader into the middle of the action ("John hit ‘publish’—and instantly regretted it.")
